Generally, when installing this update it will succeed, if information technology does not, your system should roll back to the previous version of Windows 10 without any data loss . . .

Click the link below, then click 'Update Now' on that folio to immediately become 2004 and bring your PC right up to date

Hullo Dave,

Simply a quick line to say THANKYOU for your comments, I always dorsum things up as we both know it IS safer to do that.

I accept been "playing" with this computer since receiving your answer. The interesting route the "system" took was to country that is was setting up a what I recollect was a preliminary office. Then it "down loaded  the update.

Then is went back to "Setting things up" again

At present information technology "claims" to be installing (currently at 12%)...

It previously got to 75% and so went back to what I called the "Preliminary" stage and started all over again...

We will "see" how far it gets this fourth dimension.

Thanks again

Kind regards

Jim.

I have no thought what is going on at present.

I first got a reply at fourteen:25 and assuasive a few minutes to read the answer and determine to upload the upgrade it is at present 20:00 and the upgrade is stuck on 87%.

To my manner of thinking this upgrade is a complete waste matter of time and space.

If anyone has to waste product every bit much time every bit this on 1 computer I dread to think how long it is going to accept a business to follow the same path when an office situation has something similar 50 or and so computer to upgrade.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Be warned you folk out in that location.

Hope this helps others to decide what to do

Keep safe folk

All the best

Jim

Having somewhen downloaded the update I thought information technology might be useful for others to run into the last installation timing that I experienced so that any worries "could" be alleviated.

You tin select a fourth dimension and engagement for this to happen which I did last night .. I set it at ten:30 but when I got up earlier there was, I found, an selection to start the update immediately so I went for it.

viii:nineteen Procedure started - Screen showed " 0% This will accept a while - Screen will get Blank at times.

8:37 up to 64% Screen went blank then the maker's name appeared (The one y'all "usually" run into.

8:37 77%

eight:40 Bare screen & dorsum to 77%

eight:41 Blank screens periodically til 8:43

8:43 BACK TO 64%

viii:47 up to 73%

eight:49 77%

8:59 upwardly to 86%

9:03 up to 97%

ix:04 100%

ix:05 Blank screen - Please Wait

9:07 Preparing Windows

nine:08 Front screen opens- Login Screen "Welcome"

9:xiv The screen setup I was used to seeing

9:19 I then selected the Windows Icon in the bottom LEFT corner AND so the COG (Settings) icon

Selected System, then ABOUT.

Outcome Shows Windows 10 Abode

Version 2004.

==============================

I switched everything off and rebooted and all appears normal.

What surprised me was that I had expected a dissimilar layout on reboot afterward the upgrade.

There was NO apparent difference in the layout of icons etc.

==============================

Hope that this input helps others who are about to take the stride to upgrade.

NB the timings after final download "could differ" to those shown above, but the markers "may" act as pointers to help.

Cheers to Dave for his help etc. It WAS appreciated.

Keep Rubber you all..
